SERVICES IN ASSOCIATION WITH CHRISTIANS ABROAD

SECURITY WHILST OVERSEAS

The most important country briefing resource is the U.K. Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Many insurance companies will remove cover if you remain in a country where the FCDO has advised that you should leave because of security issues. So if you have any questions about the security situation in the country in which you are living and its impact on your safety, then consult the FCDO website.

HEALTH CARE

Please note that before you travel, you need to be sure that you are medically fit to travel. If you have a pre-existing chronic condition, you must confirm with your doctor that your present medication and review process with your doctor is sufficiently robust to be confident that you are medically fit to do the voluntary work that you are likely to be doing and to be overseas for the period of time you are overseas in the country concerned.

A Travel Health Consultation by a Thrive Worldwide nurse, which includes vaccination advice, is provided as part of the Christians Abroad volunteer prior placement process. Other Thriive Worldwide services can be arrange. Thrive Worldwide is based in London.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL EVACUATION

Banner Financial Services, through their policy underwriters, provide emergency medical advice and solutions whilst overseas when insured by a Travel Insurance policy arranged via ourselves. Anyone insured by a travel/ accident and emergency policy arranged via the Christians Abroad's scheme has access to advice before travel, and advice and support overseas whilst facing a medical emergency.

The emergency medical advice and evacuation company for Individual Policies - arranged via Quote & Buy link or initially by email via insurance@cabroad.org.uk - is currently with Healix (older policies may still be with CEGA).

The emergency medical advice and evacuation company for the Christians Abroad Group Policy for CAB Volunteers only is currently with Healix.

STEWARDSHIP

Christians Abroad has partnered with Stewardship so that churches and friends of Christians Abroad Volunteers, Lay Professionals and Associates can make Gift Aided donations for their support. For further information on this service, please contact recruit@cabroad.org.uk

NATIONAL INSURANCE WHILST OVERSEAS

Christians Abroad has acted as Agent for volunteers who ae working in countries approved by the HMRC as 'developing coutries' as part of the Voluntary Development Worker National Insurance (VDW) provision. This programme remains open although there was some initial uncertainty about its future. If you need information about National Insurance contributions whilst overseas, please contact finance@cabroad.org.uk

Christians Abroad is a Key Travel agent, providing charitable flight fares and terms for Christian workers.

BIBLICAL REFLECTION

A very useful online resource for biblical reflection is WordLive, which is available through the Scripture Union. This has daily bible readings, reflection, sometimes songs and music, and prayers which are useful for meditation, particularly for a daily discipline or in a situation where you find yourself isolated from Christian worship.

INTERNATIONAL SAFEGUARDING

Safeguarding is a Christians Abroad priority for all that we undertake. Training and procedures for all those associated with Christians Abroad, both in the UK and with overseas partners, are regularly reviewed. Christians Abroad is a member organisation with Thirtyone:eight.
