Community Support, Health Care and Education in Uganda
Volunteers are required for a range of activities reaching poor and disadvantaged children and adults through education, training and promoting community health. Cost: One month, £1800, three months, £2000.
The Good Hope Initiative runs this project in Kisweera, which is in the heart of Uganda, three hours drive from Entebbe Airport. Volunteers will be involved in any of the following activities: helping children in infant schools, working alongside local teachers, organising recreational and/or educational activities for children, providing informal English lessons, organising field trips, assisting with administrative tasks, working in the Community Health Centre, counselling and praying with orphans and guardians and visiting the elderly in nursing homes.
Accommodation with meals is available with water, electricity, and mobile phone facilities provided. Twenty five minutes drive away is the small town of Mityana where there are internet, faxing and money exchange facilities. Cheap transport is available.
Cost: The total price includes air fares, visa, insurance, accommodation, meals and the Christians Abroad administration fee.
