Teach orphans in Kenya

altThe Destiny Garden School provides basic education for 3½  to 13 year old children in the suburbs of Mombasa. Volunteers are invited to join a well run and caring project. One month would cost £2700, three months would cost £3700.

The Destiny Garden School is run by Mabadiliko Care International, a charity based in Mombasa, on the coast of eastern Kenya.  The school has 180 children, many of whom are orphans. Volunteers come from several countries to assist with classroom and extra curricular activities. Good modern accommodation is provided in the city centre which includes a laundry service and transport is provided to take volunteers to the school site. The Programme Director meets volunteers at the airport. There is an induction course lasting two to three days.

A recent volunteer writes: “I worked at Destiny Garden School for three weeks in September.  My main role was to help Jacob set up a website for the school and to get a sponsorship programme in place by writing a profile and photographing all 180 children.  My visit was a marvellous experience, very uplifting when you see the joy it brings to these very poor children’s lives.”

Please note: Christians Abroad has not yet recruited volunteers for this project, but has received good references from other volunteers.

Cost: The overall cost includes flights, visa, travel insurance, accommodation and meals, laundry and transport and the contribution to Christians Abroad’s administration costs. Air fares vary according to season.
