Teachers are wanted for one year placements in three Protestant High Schools on these remote Pacific islands. Ability to teach English, Maths or Science is preferred. The cost for one year is £2600.
The Kiribati Protestant Church (KPC) has three high schools on the islands of Kiribati. This cluster of small coral islands lie between the United States and Australia surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. The temperature varies between 25deg C and 33deg C. There are only two seasons in Kiribati, wet and dry. KPC needs teachers who can teach a variety of subjects at High School level including English, Maths and Science. The requirements are that a teacher should have a Bachelor degree or Diploma in Teacher Education for children and young people between 13-19 years old. It is expected that you would have fluency in English and a love and concern for young people. It would be desirable if you have higher academic or teaching qualifications and some experience in the classroom. There are no age limits providing you are fit and well. You may be single or married, with or without children. If you are married, there are opportunities for the spouse to be employed in the schools if skills and experience are appropriate. Teachers in schools are required from time to time to lead morning devotions in school or sometimes conduct Sunday Services.
Costs: The total cost figure includes air fares, visa, insurance, and the Christians Abroad administration fee. Air fares vary a lot according to season. An expenses allowance of approximately $250 (Australian dollars) is payable fortnightly which covers most living costs.
