UK VDW National Insurance
Christians Abroad can act as Agent for volunteers who are working in countries approved by the HMRC as 'developing countries' as part of the Voluntary Development Worker National Insurance scheme. It is possible to pay a special class 2 contribution which provides certain employment benefits plus contributions towards pension entitlement of UK citizens normally resident in the UK.
Christians Abroad will provide this service to volunteers working in Mission or Development providing your application to Christians Abroad as an Associate Volunteer is accepted. (Volunteers who are already professional appointments made through Christians Abroad usually for periods of two years or more and are working in scheme appropriate countries will already be eligible for VDW NI contributions.)
To be an Associate Volunteer you must be
eligible for payment of VDW NI contribution. (For more information, please look at the HMRC WEBSITE link which will take you to leaflet NI38. The details of the scheme for those working overseas are between pages 13 and 18 - with p18 suggesting you complete a form which is on p36 and 37.)
