TRAVEL AND HEALTH INSURANCE

Are you working or volunteering overseas for a month or more?

Do you want reliable travel and health insurance from a well-known company?

If so, we can help. We have schemes set up through some of the leading UK insurance companies which have tailor-made polices designed to provide travel and medical insurance for people working or volunteering abroad. We have chosen those that have a low 'excess' (the amount you have to pay yourself before the company steps in).  This because in many developing countries local costs are lower.  You may find cheaper insurance but check three things:

        What excess would you have to pay (ours is £40, some are £150 or more)?
        Will it cover you if you have to return early (for a relative's illness, for example)?
        Will it cover relatives visiting you if ill as well as return home in emergency?

Travel and medical insurance are often overlooked when planning budgets for travel or placements overseas. Many of the risks are similar to those at home (road accident, for example) but there are also different potentially hazardous situations. The chances are that your trip will be uneventful apart from the odd tummy bug, but it is foolish to travel without adequate insurance.

Most people over 35 choose the middle range Essential Policy. Other available policies range from Gap Year insurance for the 18-35 age group (with a choice of two levels of cover) to Comprehensive cover for all age groups for up to two years (with possible extensions). Comprehensive cover includes electrical items such as laptops and higher cover for property loss. If you are under 36 the Gap Year Plus Policy will give the same level of cover as Essential. Special rates are available for groups, couples, families and those over 65.
