Help with Community Projects in India
Voluntary Service for Peace organises cross-cultural camps for adults and children in a variety of environments across South India and also runs an orphanage. One month’s placement costs approximately £2000, three months would cost approximately £2400.
VOLUNTARY SERVICE FOR PEACE (VSFP) is an international voluntary youth organization, working for the global peace through voluntary service and youth mobility in India and in Sri Lanka. VSFP has support and networking with international and national organizations to promote cross-cultural voluntary social camps and to create global peace by various activities.
VSFP is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organization with independent public funding. We have partners in local and international levels to cooperate with us in the voluntary camps within India and in Sri Lanka. We create positive relationships with local communities, under privileged children, youth, tribal and rural people to have direct contact with volunteers and youth from different countries to get exposures to other cultures and values systems.
International volunteers can create real positive and sustainable changes and peaces in the community in the field of education, health, community development, environment, sanitation, tribal development, gender equality, slum development and in cross cultural works. These positive changes will help to create local and global peace. The peaceful situation will lead the community to achieve the development easily without any barriers.
VSFP has its head office in Bangalore and working all over India and in Sri Lanka with its local and international partners.
International volunteers play a vital role in serving the poor in these camps or in the orphanage. Volunteers can choose camps which vary in focus: there is teaching in an orphanage, helping with tsunami rehabilitation, working with slum children, tribal children, HIV/Aids children and promoting gender equality. Full board and meals, transport and materials are provided. Existing volunteer recruitment includes people from America, Germany, Spain, France, South Korea, Israel and Holland.
Cost: The total cost is made up of air fares, visa costs, insurance, project fees covering food, accommodation etc and the Christians Abroad fee. Payment is made in two satges: an initial amount of £600 followed by the balance two months before the placement begins.
