Help with community development activities in southern Ghana.

alt Opportunities for volunteers to help in teaching, medical assistance, community health nursing, health care and social work in Tema, a district of the capital city Accra. One to six months  placements available. Approximate cost for one month £2000, six months £3500 .The total cost does not include spending money whilst on placement but does include the return air fare, travel and health insurance, the relevant visa, food and accommodation and a donation to Christians Abroad towards administrative costs.

Suitably qualified volunteers going to ‘Dream another Dream Volunteers Christian Organisation of Ghana’ (DADCHRISVORG) would be looked after by the organisation’s Welfare Officer and placed with host families. Whilst distinctly Ghanaian, all accommodation is well-equipped with modern facilities. Travel between accommodation and the designated workplace is by taxi, usually not more than £2 a day. Modern healthcare facilities are less than two miles away and internet access only 100 metres away.

Those with teaching skills would have opportunities to contribute to a range of subjects, including English language, maths, science, sport and vocational training. Health care work could include general nursing but also working in rehabilitation centres for the disabled. Social work with orphans and street children is possible, and vocational training takes place at vocational institutes and community centres.
