DEBRIEFING, RESETTLEMENT AND PREPARATION IN INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE.

CROSSROADS

Location
This two day conference commences on Tuesday afternoon and finishes Thursday morning lunch time.  in 2010 it will be held from Tuesday 20th July thorugh to Thursday 22nd July. There is plenty of time for rest and relaxation in the beautiful countryside around WHIRLOW GRANGE. The food is excellent. There are walks for those who would like some exercise.

Provision for Children
Children are catered for. Provision is made for a programme of visits, games and play depending on the age of children and their needs.

Organisation
The programme is facilitated and sometimes led by Jill Hughes, an experienced mission professional who used to work for the Church of Scotland and has served herself in China. Jill also brings her knowledge and understanding of people through her work as a psychotherapist. The organisation and worship is managed by Christians Abroad.

Programme
There are eight sessions of up to two hours each in the programme. They cover topics such as managing transition, our experience of sharing our faith, times of sorrow and celebration, what has been learned, what are our skills and talents, where are we now in our spiritual life, where do we go from here. Worship is an integral part of the programme and the approach is providing opportunities for guided sharing of experience so that we may learn from each other.

Participants
The feedback from this gathering has been very positive and we encourage anyone who is returning from at least two years overseas service or is on furlough/holiday between periods of service to make use of this programme.

Privacy Policy
Our experience is that there is a distinct advantage in this programme being run and managed by an independent ecumenical body such as Christians Abroad which has no responsibility to provide feedback to the sending organisation. It is a private conference and feedback to agencies would only be given if the participant themselves requested the organiser/Chaplain to do so.

Booking
Book now for our two day Crossroads Conference from 5.00 p.m. Tuesday 20th July through to 2.00 p.m July 22nd which will be held  for returning church workers and mission partners. The cost is £300.00 per course participant for accommodation, meals and programme.

OTHER SERVICES FOR CHURCHES AND MISSION AGENCIES

Preparation/briefing
Weekend or longer courses for individuals, or groups going overseas, covering expectations and realities, cross cultural, practical and health issues. These can be tailored to particular countries and individual needs. Costs are usually £125 per person per day, minimum £250.00. If child care is not needed, reductions would be available for families. It is recommended that children over 11 years of age stay with parents in workshops and, in which case, the programme will be adjusted accordingly.

Resettlement and debriefing
A service to people returning from overseas who wish to review their experience, to consider how it has affected them, their faith and their future. Programmes are run for individuals, families and groups, or privately on behalf of other agencies. Day, two day and weekend courses are available and can be tailored to participants needs. Costs are as above.

We provides a wide range of services to individuals and organisations. All our consultants have overseas experience and have worked for major overseas recruitment agencies. We have access to, and can engage as necessary, a range of spiritual advisors, crèche workers, therapists, HR, facilitators, coaches, and trainers.
