Support the local Christian community in Bethlehem.

altThe House of Bread church in Bethlehem welcomes volunteers who are willing to support the local Christian community. Visits have a four week maximum time limit. Accommodation and food are provided within a modern well-equipped house. Approximate cost for four weeks would be £2250.The total cost includes the return air fare, visa, insurance, CRB check, food and accommodation, and a donation towards Christians Abroad administration costs.

Pastor Issa Al-Zoughbi and his wife Diana welcome volunteers to take part in thefollowing activities:

·        Teach and look after Sunday School children twice a week.

·        Help set and lead youth meetings.

·        Be a part of a team that visits, encourages and prays with people in the local community.

·        Do some gardening work and work in the field.

·        Help with some housekeeping chores; e.g. do laundry, vacuum cleaning … etc.

Volunteers who could offer musical and computer skills and who have experience in youth and children’s work are particularly welcome.

Travel to Bethlehem has some particular restrictions. Pastor Issa writes: 'Unfortunately, due to restrictions of movement for Palestinians, it would be impossible for volunteers to be met at Tel Aviv airport by us. However, we can arrange for a reliable taxi driver to pick the volunteer up from the airport. The fare for a private taxi would be $100.  Alternatively, volunteers can make their way to Jerusalem by Nesher Taxi (otherwise known as 'sherut' or shared taxi) for a smaller cost. Someone from the family would then meet the volunteer once they pass the checkpoint and enter the Palestinian territories.'
