Teach in a Christian school in Albania
GDQ International School is seeking Christian teachers for Levels 1 – 13. Situated in the capital Tirana, modern facilities and a modest housing allowance are available. The basic cost for one term would be approximately £2500.
GDQ International School offers a unique learning environment for international children living in Tirana, Albania. Catering mostly to families who are working in evangelical Christian ministries, it strives to deliver as fine an education as possible. The multi-cultural make-up of the student body combined with the diverse talents of the teaching staff offer students a rich environment for disciplined inquiry while broadening their social skills and Christian worldview.
Albania is strategically placed between the West and the Muslim world. Although 50 years of communism wiped out most vestiges of religion, the Albanian culture remains strongly similar to the cultures of its Muslim neighbours to the East. Albania is beginning to send former Muslims as Christian missionaries to Muslim nations, and it is to this end that many GDQ missionary families are working. Teachers at GDQ play an integral part in facilitating this long-term vision for they free up missionary parents to more fully engage in their ministries knowing that their children’s education is not being comprised.
Along with teaching responsibilities, candidates must be willing to be committed to working in a multi-cultural classroom and be flexible in using a multi-national curriculum with a commitment to achieving GDQ's academic standards.
A teaching qualification is essential for our teaching positions. Ideally, though not essential, would be some teaching experience working cross-culturally.
Health care is available at the ABC Clinic, a family practice, which is run by missionaries living in Tirana.
The cost includes a return air ticket, visa, insurance, accommodation and the Christians Abroad administration fee. Air fares vary according to season, however.
Please note: Christians Abroad has not yet recruited volunteers for this project but has received excellent references from other volunteers.
